Transparent amber, with yelowish shades: this is the color of amber that could be considered as primary, because it looks like fresh tree resin, which is the origin of the stone. 10% of the amber belongs to this type, but is usually found in very small fragments. The few large pieces of this type that can be found, are highly valued. In addition to yellow shades, they may also have shades of red, depending on the degree of oxidation.
Red amber: the natural amber redish shadowed is particularly rare, about 0.5%. The hue of the shadow can change from orange to a reddish black. However, these parts are not usually natural, but achieved by heating and oxidizing the transparent amber. Yellow amber: this is the most common type of amber, 70% of the total. This amber has a more opaque and irregular appearance. White amber: this variety is also one of the most unusual (between 1 and 2% of total) and presents a variety of textures. It is also called Royal Amber. It can present coloured inclusions from yellow to blue or green. Green amber: another of the rare varieties (about 2%). Especially interesting is the clear choice. Blue amber: the rarest of all varieties (0.2% of total), is a transparent amber with blue shades. Black amber: one of the most frequent colors (approximately 15% of total). It appeal lies in its natural look, consisting of pieces of bark and plant matter. |

Trabajar en el mundo de las piedras preciosas / Working in the world of precious stones
We have been going deep inside the world of precious stones and jewelry for a couple of months. That is why, today we want to make an approach to a part of this world that people do not see as usually as the others. How is the daily work in the companies that produce so exquisite products for us? We have had a chat with Marisol Zurita, an expert in precious stones and amber in Yantar Natura. She has resolved a few questions for us. Question: What are the materials that your clients like the most? What are the most puchased ones? Answer: In general terms, our clients mainly require three kinds of materials: amber, precious stones and pearls. Amber, due to its colour, is more required in fall/winter seasons. Besides, many amber-silver accesories are required. It happens the same with precious stones, but, these ones are more valued by the people during spring/summer seasons and, besides, depending on the colours. The ones that people like the most are rose quartz, onyx, amethyst, aventurine, jade... Finally, pearl is always a trend, provinding elegance for every event. For example weddings or first Holy Communions. |

Cómo elegir tu piedra preciosa / How to choose your precious stone
